Just a quick little front yard transformation here... including four fruit trees, lots of herbs, some perennial vegetables, and a very tiny field of garlic. This is great example of "use what you've got". There was a heaping mound of poor soil that was dug up from a geothermal install. We made do by spreading it around to make some curves and a rise to the beds to get a bit of water retention too. A few cubic yards of good compost and woods chips later and you've got yourself a little food forest growing up fast!

Have you heard? Mo and Oliver are getting around to all our maintenance clients by bicycle this year! We invested in an E- bike from to further reduce our emissions and zip around town faster. And after 13 years of resisting motorized tools, I finally gave in and got an electric chainsaw. It's so much easier! for these times, my friends.

Seeking part-time garden landscaper in the Boston area for a small permaculture-style landscape gardening business. This job is ideal for someone who likes working independently outdoors and has a love of plants and cultivation. It’s not necessary that you have extensive experience, but you should have some familiarity with gardening and be excited about creating beautiful, earth-friendly spaces. We don’t use any chemicals or pesticides, and we value plants that are native, edible to humans and critters, or pollinator friendly.

The schedule is quite flexible, you can let me know at the beginning of the week which days you’re available for that week or you can have regular work days. Generally looking for 15-20 hrs/week.

Tasks vary on any given day and season, but regularly include:
weeding
pruning
planting
watering
transplanting plants
spreading mulch and compost
sweeping
clearing invasive plants

The job requires some hard physical labor including:
digging up root systems and digging holes for planting
pruning tall shrubs and trees
carrying buckets of material

It’s a plus if you have some of your own tools, but we can definitely loan you some of ours. Having your own transportation is required. Clients are concentrated in the greater Boston area as south as Quincy, as north as Wi******er. A typical day includes work at multiple locations.

Pay is $20/hr including drive time between jobs. Mileage is reimbursed at a rate of 56 cents per mile.

BIPOC and LGBTQ applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
