✨ SUPPORT LOCAL SATURDAY ✨

Nana's Sweet & Sourdough is who we order from for the majority of our baked goods, and we can't speak highly enough of her business. Liz has custom-baked pumpernickel for us when we couldn't find any in town. Made a fancy scone assortment for hosting a girls' breakfast. Elevated our grilled burgers with the perfect buns (no, really - flawless). 🤌🏻 It's so good, she's the weekend exception to Mrs. Green's anti-inflammatory diet rule; she saves up her carb splurge for those pretty scones and heavenly fruit kolaches.

If you are in the Warrensburg area, don't sleep on this little bakery. It looks unassuming from the outside, but Liz works HARD to ensure you get delicious nibbles just the way you like them. And for a farm that doesn't do sourdough, we are so glad she's here!!! 🧡

If you're lucky you'll cross paths with a couple of ducks waddling past the front door, or see cottage roses in bloom. It's a magical little place that smells like sugary brunch perfection.

2026 Pepper Roulette. LET ME EXPLAIN.

Last year, we saved all the seeds from our favorite peppers - what we grew, as well as farmers market varieties - in order to regrow them this season. I didn't have the patience or organization to separate them out, so we just threw them all in a container together.

Now, they are coming up beautifully, but out of maybe 40 plants probably 32 of them are just straight bell. What happened to the other types???? Where's the heat??? Mr. Green wants to burn his face off, and these are not doing it.

I have a suspicion that the healthiest ones are simply compost oopsies, and not the saved seeds. At any rate, the experiment continues in 2027. Maybe I'll label them this time. Maybe.

(The 🌻 is for the 🐔🐔🐔!)

August really helps our useless broken horse trailer out back look ✨ picturesque and rustic ✨ instead of the pile of trash that it is. Thanks, nature!

**Edit: this is NOT the invasive Asian dayflower. Commelina erectus looks very similar, but I've researched and made sure it's safe to keep on the property.

In the absence of livestock until next season, the barn currently serves as a giant chicken spa. 💅🏻

(Did you know chickens take baths in dirt? We didn't either, until we got chickens. You can see the big scooped-out divots where they roll around, though they're too shy to do it for the camera.)

Mr. Green is very into Ted Lasso right now, and Mrs. tries to pay attention too, but she prefers chicken TV....
