The Roycroft Power House was built in 1910 to provide heat and electricity to the Roycroft Campus. After a devastating fire in 1997 and years of deterioration and collapse, only about 5% of the original building remained.
Resetarits Construction began the historic reconstruction in 2010, working with Flynn Battaglia Architects to bring the Power House back while preserving as much of the original building as possible.
Original block, brick, terra-cotta roof tile and windows were restored and incorporated where possible, while missing architectural elements were recreated to reflect the historic construction. Boston Valley Terra Cotta reproduced clay roof tiles using molds made from the originals and manufactured terra cotta for the reconstructed chimney.
The result brought new life and function to a building that had nearly been lost while maintaining an important piece of the Roycroft Campus and East Aurora's history.
