Na aanleiding van 'n inbraak en roof by een van ons kliënte se kampeerterreine die vorige naweek, het G24 se Ondersoekafdeling onmiddellik 'n onafhanklike ondersoek van stapel gestuur nadat CCTV-beeldmateriaal van die verdagtes ontvang is.

Deur intelligensie-insameling, ontleding van beeldmateriaal en die hulp van ons plaaslike informantnetwerk kon ons ondersoekspan binne enkele minute belangrike leidrade opvolg, moontlike verdagtes identifiseer en hul vermoedelik betrokke adresse vasstel.

🚔 Die inligting is met SAPD gedeel, en verdere ondersoek en gekoördineerde optrede word in samewerking met die betrokke owerhede beplan.

Die ondersoek is steeds aktief, en verdere besonderhede sal bekend gemaak word sodra dit operasioneel verantwoordbaar is.

'n Voertuig se nommerplaat wat op die ongelukstoneel agtergebly het, het 'n belangrike leidraad vir die ondersoek verskaf.

Ons Ondersoekafdeling het onmiddellik gehelp om die geregistreerde eienaar op te spoor en 'n adres te identifiseer wat verband hou met 'n voertuig wat moontlik by die voorval betrokke was.

🚔 'n Span is onmiddellik in samewerking met SAPD na die geïdentifiseerde perseel ontplooi.

'n Verdagte is suksesvol in hegtenis geneem en in polisie-aanhouding geplaas.

'n Voertuig is ook opgespoor met aansienlike skade wat moontlik met die botsing verband hou.

The festive season is just around the corner, and while many people are preparing for holidays, bonuses, shopping and spending time with loved ones, remember one important thing:

CRIMINALS, SCAMMERS AND THIEVES NEVER TAKE A BREAK!

In fact, this time of year often brings increased criminal activity. People have more money available, shopping centres become busier, and many individuals become more relaxed and less aware of their surroundings.

We urge ALL G24 MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES TO REMAIN ON HIGH ALERT!

🏧 1. ATM & CASH WITHDRAWAL SAFETY

Only withdraw money at ATMs in secure, well-lit areas.

Always check your surroundings before withdrawing cash.

Make sure nobody is standing too close or watching you enter your PIN.

NEVER accept assistance from a stranger at an ATM!

If an ATM swallows your bank card, BLOCK OR CANCEL IT IMMEDIATELY using your banking app or official bank helpline.

Be alert when leaving an ATM and make sure nobody is following you.

Avoid withdrawing or carrying large amounts of cash.

💰 2. ONLINE BUYING & SELLING – BEWARE OF SCAMMERS!

This is extremely important!

When selling anything online:

NEVER release goods based on a proof of payment (POP) alone!

THE MONEY MUST REFLECT IN YOUR BANK ACCOUNT AND MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR USE!

Screenshots, SMS notifications and proof-of-payment documents can easily be faked.

Do not accept excuses such as "The payment will reflect tomorrow" or "It's an immediate payment, just give it time."

Be cautious of buyers sending third-party drivers or couriers to collect goods.

Meet buyers or sellers in safe, public locations.

Never share your banking PIN, OTP or passwords.

NO CLEARED FUNDS = NO GOODS HANDED OVER!

🚗 3. VEHICLE & TRAVEL SAFETY

Always lock your vehicle and physically check that it is locked. Criminals use remote-jamming devices.

Never leave handbags, laptops, phones or valuables visible inside your vehicle.

Remain alert when arriving home, especially after dark.

Be aware of vehicles following you from shopping centres, banks or ATMs.

Avoid stopping in isolated areas for strangers.

If you suspect you are being followed, drive to a police station or another safe, staffed location.

🏠 4. HOME & HOLIDAY SECURITY

Test your alarm system before leaving for holiday.

Ensure all doors, windows and security gates are properly secured.

Never advertise on social media that your home will be empty.

Do not share holiday plans with strangers.

Be cautious of unexpected visitors claiming to be municipal workers, technicians or delivery personnel.

Report suspicious persons or vehicles in your neighbourhood.

🛍️ 5. SHOPPING CENTRES & PUBLIC PLACES

Keep handbags zipped and wallets secure.

Never leave cellphones unattended on tables or shopping counters.

Be extra vigilant in crowded shopping centres.

Keep children close and never leave them unattended.

Be alert to people deliberately distracting you while another person attempts to steal your belongings.

📱 6. BANKING, PHONE & WHATSAPP SCAMS

Never share OTPs, PINs or passwords with anyone.

Banks will never need your PIN or OTP to reverse suspicious transactions.

Be cautious of fake delivery messages, parcel notifications and suspicious links.

Verify unexpected requests for money, even when they appear to come from friends or family.

Never install apps or grant remote access to your phone at the request of an unknown caller.

If something doesn't feel right, DO NOT IGNORE IT!

Criminals often take advantage of people who are distracted, rushed or simply too trusting.
