Stairs tips #2: ASAP, Order Balustrades (and book a stair checker)
If you are looking to level up your – literally – CCI are sharing our second lot of tips about adding a second layer to your .
As soon as you know an elevated surface is going onto your , the first thing you need to do (after treating yourself to a diet cheat day in celebration of starting the ), is select and order the balustrades. Like Brendan’s approach to leg-day at the gym, rails might seem insignificant, but someone along the way has run the hard yards and ordered them and installed them; it’s not a go-go-gadget thing that can simply be flicked out last minute… although I guess a go-go-helicopter could get you up the stairs (I didn’t think of that).
After the rails and the supports are ordered, you’ll also need to look at getting a specialised stair-checker-person-type-thingo to give the balustrades the final walk of approval… Australian Regs. are tight on stairs, like way up there – like the office your installing – like to the millimetre tight – like fitting into your wedding suit or dress after you’ve put on some holiday weight tight. We often find that stairs and railings are one of most booked-in-advanced items in a refit (like finding a wedding venue), so our advice: pick and order your balustrade early, then book a safety checking perp for a week or two after the delivery of the stock is pencilled to arrive; this will allow time for the rails to be installed prior to the safety-type-dude coming out and doing the safety checkering of it all!
A final note, C major-ity of balustrades will be metal or concrete, so you’ll need to take that into consideration. You might want champagne flowing from the ceiling, but if it’s ‘combustible material’ the safety computer says NO.
So, what are you waiting for: like a seasoned wedding planner, CCI are able to step you through the priorities of ordering the stuff you (or your expensive-in-laws) need for the life-changing event you’re after.
