The balcony and sculptural curved void are defining features of this Sherwood home, creating a visual connection between the two levels while drawing the surrounding river landscape into the heart of the design.

Beyond creating a sense of openness and drama, the curved void provides a striking architectural backdrop to the yard, tying the home and its outdoor spaces together.

Making the most of every corner.

At our Coorparoo project, the fire pit transforms an otherwise awkward corner of the property into a functional and inviting outdoor space.

Carefully positioned alongside the office, it extends the workspace into the yard, creating a more open outlook and a relaxed backdrop to the working environment. It’s a simple but considered design move that turns an underutilised area into something both practical and enjoyable.

Have an awkward space you’re not sure what to do with? Let’s explore what’s possible.

INSIGHTS 07 | To renovate or build new?

It’s one of the biggest questions when planning a project around an existing home — and the answer is different for every site.

Our approach is to retain and repurpose as much of the existing home as practically possible, incorporating it into the new design wherever it makes sense.

Done well, reusing existing elements can reduce unnecessary demolition and rebuilding, helping stretch the budget further and allowing more to be invested in the new parts of the home.

The key is understanding what’s worth keeping, what needs to change, and how to make it all work together.

Planning a major renovation or new build? We can help you work through the options and find the right approach for your home, your site and your budget.

Inside the magnificent central living space of our Dalveen rural retreat, cathedral ceilings and a generous double-height void create a real sense of scale, openness and connection to the sky above.

Designed to flood the home with natural light, this expansive living space draws inspiration from the feeling of camping beneath the stars, bringing a sense of the outdoors into the heart of the home.

With works commencing on site very soon, we can’t wait to see this architectural feature take shape and watch the vision become reality.

Welcoming summer in style. ☀️

This new patio extension to an existing 1970s brick home in Toowoomba unapologetically stands apart from the original house, introducing a bold and vibrant backdrop to the surrounding landscape.

Rather than blending into the existing architecture, the design embraces its own identity, creating a distinctive outdoor living space that brings fresh energy to the home and sets the scene for long summer days spent outdoors.

A reminder that a thoughtful extension doesn’t always have to match the original — sometimes, contrast is what makes the design.

We love this understated yet elegant pool pavilion, designed to create a seamless connection between the home and the pool while framing the water as the focal point of the entire design.

With clean lines and a considered form, the pavilion brings the surrounding spaces together, creating a cohesive outdoor setting that feels both refined and inviting.

A home designed to levitate above its site.

Elevating the home above the ground creates a sense of drama, while also unlocking the full potential of the site at ground level. This approach allows the architecture to make a strong visual statement without sacrificing the usability of the surrounding space.

Construction is now underway, and we’re looking forward to sharing more of this project as it takes shape on site.

Have a challenging site of your own? Let’s explore what’s possible.

A humble extension with a big impact.

This extension and outdoor living area may be modest in scale, but it makes a confident statement through its strong connection to the outdoors and playful response to the contours of the surrounding landscape.

Rather than imposing itself on the site, the design works with the natural terrain to create a series of connected spaces that feel both functional and integrated with their surroundings.

A great example of how thoughtful design can make a big difference, without needing to go big.

INSIGHTS 06 | What is sustainability?

Sustainability is about more than adding the latest technology or replacing an old home with something new.

For us, it starts with minimising waste and maximising the usable life of a building.

That means retaining and working with existing structures wherever possible, designing spaces that are efficient and adaptable, and choosing durable materials that are built to last.

Good design considers not just how a building performs today, but how it can continue to serve people well into the future.

Sometimes, the most sustainable thing we can do is make better use of what we already have.

Planning a renovation? We’d love to help you explore how to make the most of what you already have.

A kitchen designed for maximum connection to the outdoors.

The design of this home allows the kitchen and dining spaces to open on all sides onto the surrounding wraparound balcony, creating a seamless connection between inside and out.

With generous openings on every side, the spaces can flow effortlessly onto the balcony, bringing natural light, fresh air and the surrounding landscape into everyday living.
