This beautiful duplex was designed for canopysedge, set on a challenging site in Cairns with some incredible natural surroundings.

Our goal was to make the most of the site’s position, capturing views of the surrounding rainforest while also taking advantage of the city outlook.

Two beautiful homes that feel immersed in nature, with the surrounding rainforest creating a sense of privacy, tranquillity and connection to the landscape.

We’ve recently had the privilege of working with an amazing organisation LiteHaus International to help design a classroom in Papua New Guinea.

Our brief was to create a safe, functional and climate-resilient learning space, with reliable amenities to support students and their learning for years to come.

We loved the opportunity to put our skills to work on a project with such an important purpose. Being able to contribute to something that will have a real impact on a community is something we’re incredibly proud of.

A project that reminds us that good design can do more than create spaces, it can help create opportunities.

📣A little update to our office hours!
We’re making one small change to our week.
From now on, Fridays will be our office day behind the scenes, so we’ll be closed to the public while we catch up on the things you don’t see - admin, emails, drawings, paperwork and getting through our to-do lists!
We remain appointment only Monday–Thursday, so if you’re wanting to chat about your next project, please get in touch!

Great teams are built on strong communities. 💙🤍🩷
We're proud to sponsor the four women's and girls' teams at Brothers Rugby Union Club Townsville Inc.
As parents of three daughters, 5 By Design Co owners Michael and Jordana have always encouraged their girls to participate in sport. They understand the valuable role sport plays in building confidence, creating lasting friendships, promoting teamwork, and supporting a healthy lifestyle.
That's why you won't see a lot of traditional advertising from us. Instead, we choose to invest back into our community, helping create more opportunities for people to get involved, grow, and thrive through sport and community events.
We'd love your support to help our team jerseys win the Townsville Bulletin vote —jump online and vote for the Brothers Rugby Union Club Women's & Girl's jerseys to help them take home the win! 🏉 The link is in comments below.
And while you're at it, remember to support your local sporting clubs whenever and wherever you can. Together, we can help strengthen the communities that support us all.
