Pool heat pump diagnostics today on a pair of Zodiac units.

One system found with failed ST1 water inlet thermistor reading -48°C causing lockout/fault condition. All other sensors checked and verified to be operating within expected ranges.

The second unit inspected and found with heavily restricted evaporator airflow due to coil blockage, contributing to icing issues and reduced performance.

Full strip-down inspection carried out, faults properly diagnosed and replacement parts now ordered. Deep evaporator coil clean and sensor replacement to follow to get both systems back running correctly.

This is why proper diagnostics matter — checking the entire system properly instead of just guessing and replacing parts unnecessarily.

Modern inverter-driven pool heat pumps are seriously impressive when set up correctly 🔥💦

These Fairland TurboSilence inverter units we serviced today are a great example of how efficient modern heat pump technology has become.

What makes inverter technology different? Instead of constantly switching fully ON/OFF like older style units, the compressor and fan automatically modulate their speed depending on heating demand.

On the system display you can actually see: • Low compressor running percentages once the pool is up to temperature • Very low kW power consumption during maintenance heating • While still producing a surprisingly high heat output 🌡️

This particular Fairland IXR80V is rated up to 32kW in Turbo mode, yet once stable it can maintain pool temperature while drawing only a fraction of that in electrical input power ⚡

The data plate even shows: • COP up to 11.5 at 50% capacity • Variable compressor operation • Lower noise levels at reduced load • Huge efficiency gains compared to traditional electric heating
