Throwback to 2024 — Salvington Nurseries

After many years of visits taking care of various elements of this beautiful property — from the lead pitched porch roof and hipped extension, to chimney trays, flashings, window trays and sills — in 2024 we were entrusted with the full replacement of the main roof.

A sympathetic Grade II listed restoration, carried out in conjunction with our long-term and valued clients, Mark & Sarah.

The roof was finished using wienerberger UK & Ireland Goxhill handcrafted clay plain tiles - Autumn Brown, with specially ordered mansard tiles at the change of pitch to create a seamless transition.

The specification included a Code 6 central lead valley section, new chimney flashings and aprons, and traditional lime mortar throughout.

Prior to our arrival, Mark & Sarah had worked closely with an oak framing carpenter and traditional bricklayer, ensuring replacement oak rafters and lambswool insulation were completed sympathetically and to the required specification. To finish the project, the clients installed cast iron rainwater goods throughout.

Jobs of this calibre don't come along too often — the opportunity to use top-quality traditional materials, proper detailing and a sympathetic heritage specification from start to finish.

A project where everyone involved cared about getting the details right, and one we're still extremely proud of.

Most importantly, both ourselves and the clients were delighted with the finished result.

Ever had to Siphon gallons of water out of an insulation envelope!?

Quirky one this was. Testament to the bituminous VCL there must have a huge amount of water 💧 and weight in there and was mostly being held!
