Not every timber sash window replacement has to start from nothing.
These stained glass panels have been part of the house for decades, original, distinctive and well worth preserving. Rather than losing them when the old windows were replaced, Specialist Glass London encapsulated each panel between two layers of new, clear glass, creating triple-glazed encapsulated stained glass units. It is a process that requires precision and specialist knowledge.
Those units have now been fitted into bespoke timber Vertical Sliding sash windows manufactured here at Grabex. The original character remains, now within new timber windows built to modern standards of thermal insulation and energy efficiency.
Once installed, the stained glass will return to the same house and the same positions it has occupied for years, but this time as part of windows that perform very differently from the ones they are replacing.
