Got a mix of electrical updates sorted at a property down in Newquay. Started in the kitchen by fitting a client-supplied extractor fan and swapping out an old fused spur for a standard socket to run it. We also added a surface-mounted socket in the dining area because the wall was too shallow for a recessed box. Moved through the house to hang a new living room pendant and upgraded the main bathroom fitting to a waterproof LED bulkhead. We actually repurposed the old bathroom light for the loft. Wired it up next to the boiler with a new switch and an additional isolator, meaning heating engineers can kill the power to the boiler for maintenance but still have light to work by. Ran all the loft cabling neatly in 25mm PVC trunking to keep it safe. Finished off round the back by wiring in a black sensor lantern and fixing a faulty pull cord in the outdoor toilet. 💡

The job involved installing two new dedicated 20A radial circuits—one to supply a new built-in oven and microwave, and another for an instant hot water tap. We managed to free up space in the consumer unit for the hot water tap by repositioning the existing extractor fan supply. We also added a new socket spurred off the existing circuit for the dishwasher. All the new cabling was routed within the walls and neatly clipped behind the cupboards, with local isolator switches installed for easy access. Everything was fully tested and certified upon completion. ⚡

Out in Liskeard adapting the electrical circuits across a property to fit the homeowners' new room layouts. We relocated several switches for better access and added new sockets in the bedrooms to handle a fridge, kettle, and TV setup. In the en-suite, we core drilled the exterior wall to fit a new extractor fan and isolator. We also ran a catenary wire outside to suspend armoured cable across to the exterior stairs, powering a new weatherproof socket in the storage area. Inside the cellar, we fitted IP-rated batten lighting and fused spurs to handle the damp environment. ⚡️

Replaced a faulty Heatmiser UH8-RF wiring centre for an underfloor heating system in Hayle. The original setup had a disconnected manifold switch live, meaning the boiler wasn't actually receiving the signal to fire. Swapped in a like-for-like replacement, corrected the wiring routing, and paired up all the existing room thermostats. The system had some trapped air causing poor flow and making the boiler cut out, so we opened all the zones to let it self-purge and get the water circulating properly again. 🔧

We recently finished up a series of electrical tasks at a home in Helston. The job involved a real mix of work, sorting out both inside and outside the property.

We started by investigating a tripping issue on the porch and front exterior lights, getting that sorted and upgrading the hallway switch to a 2-gang unit for separate control. We also installed a new client-supplied light on the front elevation and fitted a new 20W white PIR floodlight on the annex to improve security.

Inside, we relocated an existing light and installed a new pendant over the dining room table, routing the cables through the floor void above to keep things neat. In the kitchen, we upgraded the switch to allow separate control of the main lights and the shelf LEDs, and we also installed a recessed LED unit in the chimney area. We finished off by replacing the WC light with a low-profile LED bulkhead, swapping a bedside socket for one with USB ports, and adding a new surface-mounted socket in the master bedroom.

Satin chrome electrical upgrades in St Austell ⚡

Swapped out standard white plastic switches, sockets, and data points across three floors for a matching satin chrome finish. The swap to metal faceplates involves testing and verifying the earth connections at every point to keep the installation safe. Alongside the standard sockets, we fitted four double sockets with integrated USB A and C ports for easier device charging, swapped out a few data points, and hung some client-supplied pendant lights. Added an extra light fitting in the kitchen while we were there too.

Bathroom electrical work in Penzance ⚡

Swapped out a wall-mounted extractor fan for a 5" in-line unit fitted in the loft, ducted through to the existing roof tile vent with insulated ducting. Added a fourth downlight near the entrance door to match the existing ceiling layout, relocated the over-mirror light supply to the new sink position with the client's own fitting, and moved all switch control outside the bathroom - separate switches for the downlights, mirror light and fan, plus a fan isolator.

This one really made our day. We recently paid Adam a visit in St Austell through our Positive Connections initiative, and while the job itself was fairly straightforward, it genuinely meant a lot.

Adam lives with autism and had been without a working hallway light for months. The fitting that was already in place wasn't one he'd have chosen himself, and when it stopped working he was left without any light at the entrance to his home ever since.

Combined a few jobs at a property in Bodmin - two socket replacements in the living room, including a fault diagnosis on one of the circuits before fitting the new outlet, an IP rating check across the bathroom, en-suite and WC, and a like-for-like room thermostat replacement on the central heating. 🔌
