We love a challenge at PBF Drainage.

When a client asks us to work from a river or stream, we make it happen.

This drainage culvert outlet was located in the middle of a 20ft wide stream, meaning the team had to create a dry working area to safely access and carry out the works.

The Importance of Using an Experienced Contractor

When it comes to drainage rehabilitation, poor installation can have expensive and serious consequences.

These images show the results of poorly installed liners which caused continual blockages, flooding and pollution issues.

In this case, the liner installation had not been fully completed, leaving snags, which in turn blocked the pipe, resulting in pollution issues.

The liner had to be cut out and removed, adding unnecessary time, disruption and cost to the project.

This is why choosing an experienced and competent contractor is so important. A correctly installed liner should provide a seamless, reliable and long lasting solution, rather than create further issues down the line.

PBF Drainage were contacted by a client with a very difficult job that needed completing.
The only feasible method of repair was using trenchless methods due to the block and beam floor running under the length of the house.
Rats had been getting into the void and after pest control had cleared them from the property, a repair needed doing which had to be done without lifting the floor.
Using various methods including vacuum tanker, low pressure jetting robotic cutting equipment, and mechanical equipment, the collapse and breaks in the pipe were cleared and tidied up. Any unstable pipework was secured using patch repairs, and then 2 full length liners were installed.
The duration of the works was over a two day period during some of the hottest weather this year. The site was cleared and the client left with a fully restored drainage system.
It all seems simple looking at pictures and discussing things over the phone, but once on site it took a great deal of patience, finesse and determination to get the works done and done to such a high standard.
Well done to the team on site and for taking care of the elderly client who was struggling in the heat during their time on site.

PBF Drainage were tasked with repairing a very difficult pipe running under a block and beam floor where rats had been causing major issues for the residents.
The pipe was DN100 vitrified clay and had been fractured and broken, either during installation or over time, with large sections of pipe missing and the pipe surround continually washing in causing the flows to backup.
Multiple other companies had tried to clear the collapse, which ran for approximately 8m in total, and then an additional 8m with severe breaks and fractures along the other sections.
Despite working through a very hot and sunny day, the team carefully removed the debris using a vacuum tanker, light jetting and mechanical equipment. The debris was removed and several patches were installed to secure the pipe during the cleaning process.
Any intruding sections of pipe and sharp sections of the pipe were cut back using a Hachler Climbolino E lateral cutter to prevent damage to the liner.
Once the pipe had been fully cleared, pre-liner was installed and two separate flexible felt liners were installed using Bluelight LED light cure equipment. The high strength and ease of installation of these liners prevented further damage and risk of total collapsed.
Once the liners had been installed, the Hachler Climbolino E that was hired from Bluelight Lining Ltd, due to its small size and very flexible cutting head, was used to reopen the connections to restore full flow of laterals from the sink and bathroom.
The entire system was then surveyed including all connections to make sure no other damage was present. The complete works took 2 days to fully complete, and the client was over the moon as the issues had been going on for the previous 12 months.
Well done to the team for getting the works done, efficiently, professionally and for taking care of the elderly client.
