Went to Hillhead 2026 to look at crushers and screeners... ended up entering the Kubota Challenge instead. 🤦‍♂️

The lads were expecting the boss to knock a few cones over, stall it and blame the machine...

Instead he only went and put in the 3rd fastest time of the day with full points! 🏆😳

Turns out spending years bouncing around muddy sites, digging footings and loading wagons is decent practice after all.

There were a few "professional operators" looking a bit upset when a groundworker from Norfolk started climbing the leaderboard... 👀😂

Safe to say we're never hearing the end of this one.

The trophy cabinet is still empty... but the bragging rights cabinet is now completely full. 🍻

Not every day on site involves mud, concrete and demolition... sometimes it's about looking ahead. 👀

A great day at Hillhead 2026 checking out the latest machinery, crushing equipment, screening technology and innovations shaping the future of the aggregate recycling industry.

From bigger crushers and smarter screening plants to the latest attachments and efficiency-driven technology, there was plenty to see and even more ideas to bring back home.

As HM Groundworks & Construction continues to expand our crushing and recycling division, we're always looking for ways to process material faster, greener and more efficiently for our clients.

Today it's Hillhead. Tomorrow it's the next investment. 🚜♻️

Paired up with the Cat 308, this setup makes light work of concrete, brick, block and mixed demolition materials, keeping projects moving and costs down.

The investment in a second crusher means more availability, faster turnaround times and even greater crushing capacity across Norfolk and the surrounding areas.

🚧 FOOTING POUR DAY – ROUGHTON 🚧

Nothing beats watching a footing pour in time-lapse... hours of graft condensed into a few seconds 💪

After demolition, site strip and excavation, it was time to get the concrete in and lock this project into the ground properly.

Concrete flowing ✔️
Levels checked ✔️
Foundations ready to build from ✔️

As always, the groundwork is the part nobody sees when the project is finished, but it's the most important part of the whole build. Get this wrong and everything above it is a problem. Get it right and you've got a building that'll outlast us all 👌

Now the concrete is in, it's time to get the blockwork flying up and start turning holes in the ground into a brand-new extension.

🚧 NEW PROJECT ALERT – ROUGHTON 🚧

Another one underway for the team! 💪

This site started with a tired old patio and conservatory area that had seen better days. Fast forward a few days and we've completed the demolition, stripped the site back, set everything out and got the footings excavated ready for concrete.

No fancy filters needed on this one – just a good machine, a good team and plenty of muck shifted! 😎

The exciting part starts now as we turn this blank canvas into a stunning new extension for our client.

3 days of screening.

A few thousand ton later.

We have saved some turtles by recycling road planings into reusable aggregate ready to be shipped out.

Road planings 0-20mm , 20-40mm , 40mm + all availble for purchase and delivery.

From dead garden to full transformation in just 1 week 💥

Out with the tired old mess and in with fresh Kandla Grey sandstone, new sleeper borders and a proper tidy up all round 👌

We also relocated the oil tank onto a brand new solid base to make better use of the space and give the whole garden a cleaner finish.

Massive turnaround in a short space of time by the team — proof that with the right groundwork, you can completely revive an outdoor space 🔥
