Some projects mean more than just bricks and mortar. This is certainly one of them. ❤️
Today marks a particularly proud moment for TWEC Developments Ltd, as we officially handed over the newly refurbished sports hall at Ysgol Y Waun, Chirk.
In December 2024, Storm Darragh caused devastating damage to the hall, tearing off the roof and leaving a much-loved facility out of action for almost two years.
TWEC were appointed in March this year to undertake the extensive repair and refurbishment works. What followed was a major transformation, stripping the building back to its bare bones — roof, walls and floors — before carefully rebuilding and upgrading the facility to serve both the school and the wider community through Freedom Leisure.
For me personally, today is a reminder of exactly why I love what we do.
Seeing the excitement and happiness on the faces of the staff and pupils as they finally got to see their hall restored makes all the hard work worthwhile.
As a local contractor, this project has meant a great deal to us. We even have members of the TWEC team who attended Ysgol Y Waun themselves, which makes being involved in its restoration that little bit more special.
A huge thank you to everyone in our team and across our supply chain who contributed to bringing this project over the line, with particular thanks to and . Projects of this scale require a genuine team effort, and we’re incredibly grateful for everyone’s hard work and commitment.
Most importantly, we sincerely hope the pupils, staff, users and the wider Chirk community enjoy this fantastic facility for many years to come.
It’s been a privilege to play our part in bringing it back to life.
