We are back at BBC Gardeners’ World Autumn Fair this year, with ‘The Association of Professional Landscapers Elevated Garden Living’ 🌿

This showcase garden is a collaborative project showcasing the creativity, expertise and craftsmanship of our APL members.

The project also provides a valuable opportunity for two landscaping apprentices from Merrist Wood College, who will be working alongside our members and gain first-hand experience of building a show garden.

This National Allotment Week, we caught up with APL member and former APL Awards judge, Steve Smith (Shore Landscapes) to hear about his allotment journey.

“My journey into the world of ‘grow your own’ started back in 2018. If I remember correctly, I managed to obtain the only plot nobody else wanted! The benefits of the allotment have been:
🌿The exercise, working the land
🌿Community- allotments are a great place to meet new people and make new friends
🌿Mental wellbeing- gardening helps reduce stress and improves mood

But most of all, the sense of accomplishment. You planted that seed, you watered and you watched it grow. Now you get to enjoy it!”

With the new British Standard for domestic paving, BS 7533-102 including recommendations that differ from traditional installation methods, APL General Manager, Phil Tremayne, and APL Committee Chair, David Strows, took the opportunity at BBC Gardeners’ World Live to film the mixing and laying of slabs on the APL stand.
