Churchill Living is a privately owned, family run company. Founded in 1994 by Spencer and Clinton McCarthy, formerly Churchill Retirement Living.

Churchill Living's mission is to create thriving communities for the over 60s that offer an enhanced lifestyle, peace of mind and freedom to live life at its best. The company originally started out building stone and thatched cottages in and around Hampshire, Dorset and Wiltshire, under the name of Emlor Homes. oted “Housebuilder of the Year” by What House Magazine. The brothers then decided to move into the sheltered housing market in 2000. After the success of its first development “Avon Lodge” in Southbourne they decided to sell all their open market sites and to concentrate in the retirement market. The Brothers are the Sons of John McCarthy MBE who founded McCarthy & Stone in 1964. McCarthy & Stone built their first retirement development in 1977, since then they have built over 60,000 retirement flats. John McCarthy left McCarthy & Stone in 2004 following a failed buyout bid by his sons; he is now a Non Executive Investor Director with Churchill Living.

🎪 What a fantastic day we had at Sanderson Lodge, Selsdon, at our recent circus-themed event!

Residents and guests enjoyed an afternoon filled with fun games, themed drinks and tasty treats, all topped off with plenty of laughter and great company.

A special mention goes to Phil, our Sales Executive, who impressed everyone with his juggling skills and helped bring the circus spirit to life! 🤹Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the event so memorable. 😊

🏡❤️ Finding the right home for a parent can be a big decision, but when they’re happy, settled and able to maintain their independence, it can bring real peace of mind for the whole family.

That’s exactly how Sharon and her brother Paul feel since their mum Brenda moved into Thackeray Lodge. At 92, Brenda is enjoying her independence, keeping in touch with old friends as well as making new ones while getting involved in the social life at the development whenever she chooses.

For Sharon and Paul, knowing that their mum is in a safe and welcoming environment, with help available when she needs it, means they can spend more time enjoying being together and less time worrying about the practical things. ✨

At Wessex Lodge in Bagshot, we recently welcomed the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) for a special Beyond Midlife focus group, supported by the Churchill Foundation. 🏡👥

Residents and Colleagues came together to share their experiences and perspectives on ageing, independence, purpose and the role that work can continue to play in later life. It was a valuable opportunity to have open conversations about the challenges and opportunities people can face as they approach retirement and beyond. 💬

We’re proud to be partnering with the CSJ on this important project and helping ensure the voices and experiences of those with lived experience are part of the conversation. 🤝🌟

🎉🎂🎈 A very happy 90th Birthday to Jean, one of our wonderful Residents at Eddington Lodge in Kendal!

Jean recently celebrated this very special milestone with a wonderful party in the Communal Lounge, surrounded by family, friends and fellow Residents. The celebrations included a delicious buffet lunch and live music, with one of Eddington Lodge’s own Residents providing the entertainment! 🎶🥂

Jean’s daughter Fiona described her mothers move to Eddington Lodge as "an incredibly positive one” and it was lovely to see the whole community come together to celebrate such a special occasion. 💚

🎉🛍️ It was lovely to see everyone at the Kings Norton Festival earlier this month, where we had a fantastic time meeting members of the local community!

As part of our stand, we held a prize draw to win an M&S hamper, with Christine, a local trainee vicar being our lucky winner! 🥳

Christine recently visited our development to collect her prize, accompanied by the Church Warden from St Nicolas Church - which our Lodge is named after. Even more special, his mother-in-law is also a Resident at the St. Nicolas Lodge! 🏠

It was wonderful to welcome them both and continue building connections with the local community. ✨
