To avoid paint patchiness, make sure the surface you paint is clean, sanded, and primed so the paint absorbs evenly. Work with thin, steady coats and keep a wet edge as you move to prevent lap marks. Sticking with the same roller type throughout helps the finish stay consistent too.

Painting a wall is never as simple as grabbing a brush and getting started. The prep always takes the longest.

Cleaning with sugar soap, filling any cracks or holes and sanding everything smooth sets you up for a long lasting finish.

You also need to move the furniture, cover what you can, prime any patched spots or big colour changes, then give the wall a final wipe to clear the dust.

It really is all in the prep!
