Towens Group Towens provide waste management and construction services to trade and home owners - Southwest area.

We handle well over half a million tonnes of waste and recycled aggregate per year. Here at Towens we are proud of our history and record in waste management and construction services, our association with Weston Super Mare, its business council and residents. Mainarea Ltd trading as Towens of Weston began on 14th July1992 from a small yard on the Weston Europark. We did pretty much anything in th

e early days, except skips as Andy Towens was not permitted to compete with his previous employer under the terms of his severance. At this time Woodspring District were very supportive finding various civil engineering works for us to carry out. In 1994 Towens merged with C-T plant a local plant hire company and the operation was moved to a small depot on Rectors way. In 1997 we purchased two plots of land in Warne Road, moved in and began the skip side of the business. Soon after the millennium we were able to purchase some of the old Hutton Moor allotment land which backed onto our plot and it is this site that we occupy today. In 2002 following 8 years of steady growth Mainarea Ltd changed to the two operating companies Towens of Weston Ltd and Towens Waste Management Ltd that you see today. We handle well over half a million tonnes of waste and recycled aggregate per year and have developed the site into a fully functioning trade waste processing and recycling facility. In 2012 we were successful in purchasing the old council transport depot opposite our main site and expanded our operation further. 2015 saw the completion of our own vehicle maintenance workshop on the site of one of the original 2 plots purchased in 1997 and the formation of Towens Fleet Services Ltd.

This year's charity golf day supported the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre, a charity that has been supporting cancer patients in Bristol and the surrounding areas since 1971.

We spoke to John Telling about why this cause means so much to the team.

"We chose this charity because they make a real difference to people in Bristol and the surrounding areas, for a disease that affects families in the area. I know it's affected many people at Towens."

The golf day has been running for over 15 years, the brainchild of our founder Andy Towns.

Each year we invite a wide range of people, from customers and suppliers to people who work in the business, and even our competitors.

We are pleased to announce that we raised £3,000 for the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre!

Most people assume waste ends up in landfill. Here's what actually happens at our gates.

Loads are tipped at our own facility, then sorted, screened, crushed and graded. Inert waste becomes recycled aggregate that goes straight back out on the next job.

The result: 92% of everything that comes through gets recycled, reused or recovered. Only 8% ends up in the ground.

You usually don't see what a site goes through to become what it is today. In this case, a suffering traditional golf course was completely reworked into a multi-use golf resort.

Our tippers have been out on site with valued customer Kelston Sparkes on a Kier project — but look a little closer at the trucks and you'll spot something a bit special.

That artwork on the sides? Made by local kids. 🎨

We think that's pretty brilliant. Our fleet hauls a lot of things, but carrying work made by the next generation might just be a new favourite.

We have two positions available for HGV Class 2 Skip/RoRo Driver roles, one near Bridgwater and one near Midsomer Norton. No skip or RoRo experience needed, as we'll get you fully trained!

What you get: company pension, free parking, a bonus scheme, and a proper team around you. Monday to Friday mostly, with some weekend work when needed.

Reshaping a live golf course without shutting it down. That was the job at Mad Swans.

Our team cut and reshaped the ground for the new driving range using GPS guided kit and our own recycled material for the bunds.

A good example of what our civils team can handle on a tight, live site.
