Black or bronze?
It’s the question nearly every Crittall project comes to, and this year’s finalists each answered it differently.
Shropshire: Black
A house of traditional character, with its original steel windows still in place. Black allowed the new to follow the old without interruption.
St Albans: Dark Bronze
Against slim Roman brick and crisp white render, bronze lends the rear elevation a quiet warmth.
Reigate: Both
A pair of houses conceived together, one in bronze and one in black. Kindred, but never identical.
There is no right answer, only the one that suits the house.
Which would you choose for your home?
