For this project near York, we redesigned a former garage into a characterful kitchen and living area, using new rooflights and wide sliding doors to flood the space with natural light. A contemporary, full-height glazed link bridges the listed building to the conversion—creating a seamless, light-filled connection that respects the listed status.

Inside, the open layout features a rich forest green kitchen centred around a traditional AGA range set into an exposed brick recess. Deep vaulted ceilings elevate the room's proportions, while classic oak herringbone parquet flooring flows through to the glazed link, creating a warm, light-filled connection between the historic main house and the new living space.

A bespoke new build in Yorkshire — from a blank canvas to bricks and mortar.🧱✨

Projects like this start long before the first brick is laid. From the initial measured and photographic site survey to concept designs tailored around how our clients want to live, every detail is considered from day one.

For this plot, local planning policy was key. By designing thoughtfully to sit comfortably in its context — incorporating feature brick arches, stone cills, and an arched entrance porch — we secured planning approval with confidence.
