A fantastic couple of days in Cork at the ICSH Finance and Development Conference 2026!

It was great to meet with Approved Housing Bodies from across the sector and have valuable conversations around the opportunities and challenges ahead for Ireland’s social and affordable housing stock.

With retrofit also part of the conversation at this year’s conference, including a workshop focused on retrofit through OSS and CEG, there is a real opportunity to look at how existing housing stock can be improved for the future.

Are you an AHB looking to understand the retrofit potential across your housing stock?

KORE Retrofit can carry out a no-obligation evaluation of your housing stock, helping you get a clearer picture of where opportunities may exist.

Get in touch with our team to arrange a survey and start the conversation.

Derelict property owners: the clock is now ticking. ⏳

The Government is set to confirm a new Derelict Property Tax of 7% of a property’s value for owners who don’t take remedial action. Revenue will collect it instead of local councils.

Key dates:
🔹 January 2027: the tax takes effect and councils start compiling derelict registers
🔹 September 2027: preliminary registers are published nationwide
🔹 June 2028: deadline to remediate the property or pay Revenue

It will first apply in 107 cities and towns with 4,000+ people, including Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway, Drogheda, Dundalk, Navan, Sligo and Roscommon. It will then extend to 171 locations.

On a €300,000 property, that could mean a tax bill of more than €20,000.

The tax is designed to drive action, and there’s time to get ahead of it. At KORE Retrofit, we help owners bring vacant and derelict buildings back into use, so the money goes into the property rather than a penalty.

Repairing or rebuilding a home with defective concrete blocks (mica)? An SEAI home energy grant may sit on top of the scheme you’re already in.

What many don’t know is that the same work can be a chance to make the home warmer and drier, with SEAI support on top.

KORE Retrofit is an SEAI registered One Stop Shop. We handle the upgrade, handle the grant, and check the quality on every job.

Climate action can start at home 🏡

This Climate Action Week, we're showing how every home energy upgrade supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Swipe to see how 👉

As 1 of 19 organisations in Ireland's SDG Champions Programme, we see warmer homes as practical climate action: lower emissions, lower bills, more comfort and less fuel poverty.

KORE Retrofit designs the upgrade, handles the grant and checks the quality on site, so getting it done is simpler.
