Our team is proud to be part of the NZ Arb Conference in Rotorua! 🌳

From soaking up the knowledge from the seminars, discovering new perspectives and gathering plenty of ideas to bring back and share.

Just as important are the conversations over coffee, the connections we’re making and the chance to catch up with friends and colleagues from throughout the industry.

It’s a wonderful celebration of learning, collaboration and the people who make arboriculture such a great community. 🌳

We are proud supporters of Nz Arb and the NZ Arb Conference for 2026

A coffee, a catch-up and a chance to connect. ☕💚

On Monday morning, our teams kicked off Mental Health Awareness Week with coffees across every Treescape depot - bringing people together to check in, share a laugh and start conversations that matter.

This year’s theme is Belonging Matters. Because when people feel welcomed, valued and included, we’re stronger - as teams and as individuals.

Sometimes connection starts with something as simple as a cuppa and a genuine “How are you going?”

Employee Spotlight: ✨Ayla Birdsall✨

From Traffic to Arb

What was your original role in the business and what are you doing now? What new skills or qualification have you gained (or working towards) along the way?
I have been at Treescape for 5 years. I started with a restricted licence and zero qualifications. I began Traffic Management Training and throughout the years I have achieved my class 2 and 4 truck licence, wheels and tracks licence and I am a qualified STMS CAT A and B. I was also selected as a crew lead position for our traffic control and became a SHEQ champion for my depot. Now I’m currently doing my level 3 arb qualification!

What first sparked your interest in making a career change?
The idea of climbing trees and having a big passion / interest for arboriculture and horticulture. I love the idea of working with nature

What support or encouragement did you receive from your manager, team, or the wider business?
I have always felt very supported by my managers and co-workers when it comes to my goals and wanting to learn and achieve more. Everybody is very encouraging and helpful

What was the biggest challenge during the transition, and how did you overcome it?
The overwhelming load of information and knowledge to learn about. Time and effort are needed

What do you enjoy most about your role now?
Learning to climb trees is an exhilarating experience and gaining knowledge about everything

What does having opportunities to grow within the business mean to you?
It is very beneficial to know there are many opportunities to do different things, always able to have goals and build new skills

What advice would you give to someone considering a career change?
No one can go back and change the beginning, but anyone can make one decision and create a new ending

What is your go-to workday snack or coffee order?
Hazelnut latte every morning

Not all tree jobs are created equal. 🌳🏗️

Some projects call for a different approach—like working alongside NZ Cranes and completing the job at night to minimise disruption and get the work done safely.

Whatever the challenge, our team will assess the site, plan every detail, and find the safest, most cost-effective way to meet your requirements.

Have a complex tree job? Talk to us about the right solution.

Recently, the Treescape team had the privilege of completing the annual prune of The Bucket Tree — New Zealand’s Tree of the Year 2026.

Dating back to the 1850s, this remarkable macrocarpa (Hesperocyparis macrocarpa) in Tawa, Wellington, has been carefully shaped into its iconic upside-down bucket form since around 1879.

Each year, Treescape gets to carry out the specialist prune that maintains its unique shape and keeps this living sculpture looking its best.

We’re proud to play a part in caring for one of Aotearoa’s most distinctive trees. 🌳
