Depending on the damage (in this case a hot pizza box) there is not always the need for a total refinish. This TV cabinet with a nice dark stain was easier to blend the colour into the surrounding areas and saved money compared to a whole refinish or repurchase!

They just don't make kauri doors like this any more. When the tenants do accidental damage, replacement is not an option...

This reception desk at the head office of a Leading NZ company was looking the worse for wear. Although it was laminate, we managed to remove the damage and dirt without sanding through to the underlying wood and give it new coats of protection. And the most important thing, the customer response......"Reception desk came up fabulous. The reception team are very happy with the finished work."

Most people these days replace their furniture when it gets stained and tatty. But if you have a classic solid wood table in Oak, Rimu or Walnut for example its worth restoring it to it's original glory and still significantly cheaper than replacing it with an equivalent table.

There's still a lot of hardwood floors in older Auckland houses. Not everyone likes the orangey tones of Rimu and Matai, but they are valued for their warmth, durability, and historic charm. A common problem is water and sun damage near windows and doors. It's not a replacement for a full sand and refinish, but a touch up can extend the life of your floor by a few years or smarten it up for a sale.

Its been a crazy busy couple of months, so I've been very fortunate to sneak away for a few days at a warmer location. Got up close and personal with this gorgeous banded iguana and a very friendly python. Taken in a business context I was reminded that sometimes you need to change your colours before you get the life squeezed out of you!!

I love the variety of my restoration projects and these floating rimu stairs were fun to work on. Given the surrounding environment was muted whites and greys, I went with a 5%Mist hard wax oil which toned down the natural warm tones of the wood.

SORRY not the most exciting topic.... BUT light scratches are some of the hardest to photograph and show the net effect ...

SORRY not the most exciting topic.... BUT light scratches are some of the hardest to photograph and show the net effect of a repair. When you have a premium floor you want a premium finish and scratches still catch the light and your eye when they're in inconvenient locations. Take this example and muliply by 30 and that was yesterday morning's workload!
