Stim craftsmanship

Stim craftsmanship STIM - bringing you quality one-off timber products, handcrafted from recycled materials.

Every pile has a purpose… apparently. 😂

Just another day in Paul’s workshop — sorting, cutting and turning random bits of timber into something useful.

There’s a method in the madness. 🌿

THE STIM STORY 🌿

There’s a little more to Stim than making things from timber.

We work with reclaimed and recycled timbers, including retired wine barrels and local materials that still have plenty of life left in them.

From selecting the timber to shaping, sanding and finishing, every piece is made here in our Hawke’s Bay workshop — by hand, with plenty of sawdust along the way.

We make pieces designed to be used, enjoyed and kept.
Not mass-produced. Not perfectly identical. And definitely not made to be disposable.

Every piece has a story. We hope it finds a place in yours.

LEFT FATHER’S DAY SHOPPING UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE? 👀
Don’t panic — we’ve got your back.

We’ve pulled together some of our ready-to-go Stim pieces that might just solve the “what am I getting Dad?” problem. 😎
Handcrafted from reclaimed timber, made right here in Hawke’s Bay and built to be used.

From the BBQ Dad to the Dad who has everything — there’s a good chance we’ve got something he’ll actually like.

Father’s Day — Sunday 6 September.

END OF THE WEEK WRAP-UP 🌿

It’s been another busy one at Stim.

Paul has been focused on finishing a custom project for a repeat local business customer — always a good feeling when they come back for more. 🙌

He’s also been putting the finishing touches on our first batch of pedestal trees, getting them ready for the festive season. 🎄

And because there’s apparently no such thing as an empty workbench around here… another batch of Stave Platters is now underway. 🍷🪵

Meanwhile, Sharron has been steadily making things happen behind the scenes — planning upcoming events, restocking our local stockists and finalising the Stim Christmas range for 2026.

And if you’ve left your Father’s Day shopping until the last minute… we’ve got your back. 👀

Shop online or head in and visit one of our amazing stockists for handcrafted gifts made right here in Hawke’s Bay.

A little behind-the-scenes look at the making of one of our festive favourites. ⭐

The CNC does the cutting, turning a sheet of timber into a whole lot of little stars — but they still require the human touch to finish these beauties.

Each star is finished by hand before being turned into our reusable Star Garlands.

A firm Stim favourite for the festive season. 🎄

End of the Week Wrap-Up

It’s been a calm, cold one in the workshop this week. ❄️

Winter has given us a little more breathing room — which means we’ve been able to slow things down, catch up, and get stuck into restocking some of our regular production range before the busy season arrives.

Currently on the go are some Eml round pan-handled serving pieces, 2 sizes avalible. Also some super cute sandwich boards, and a few other pieces quietly taking shape.

We’ve also started getting stuck into festive season stock🎄

Yes, already. We know. But these things take time when everything is made one piece at a time.

There’s been the usual workshop maintenance too — because machinery has to earn its keep, but it also needs a little love now and then.

Father’s Day is just around the corner. 👀

If you’re still looking for something for Dad, there’s still time to find a handcrafted Stim piece — especially if you’re shopping from our ready-to-go range.
