⚠️ A deep freeze is hitting Wisconsin this week — the kind of cold that puts your home’s pipes at real risk.

Most burst pipe claims don’t show up during the cold snap. They appear after temperatures rise when ice inside the pipes starts to thaw and pressure builds.

Help protect your home now with a few quick prevention steps:

❄️ Keep a small trickle of water running from faucets
❄️ Open cabinet doors under sinks to let warm air reach pipes
❄️ Detach outdoor hoses and drain exterior spigots
❄️ Seal gaps or drafts around pipes
❄️ Insulate exposed pipes in basements, crawl spaces, or attics
❄️ Know where your main water shutoff valve is

A few small steps now can help prevent major damage in the coming weeks.

Tips on how to keep your house warm in extreme cold weather. 1. Set tour thermostat a couple degrees higher than normal, then leave it (don’t turn down at night). 2. Keep curtains/shades drawn. 3. Check and/or replace furnace filter. 4. Check outside vents to make sure they aren’t plugged or blocked. 5. And last, but certainly not least , be sure you have a carbon monoxide detector in your home, preferably on the lowest level to protect your home .

Do this today so you are prepared for the cold snap coming. Don’t wait until it’s -25 degrees. Stay safe everyone.
