If you’ve noticed some bright lights coming from the Dunn Company asphalt plant this week, there’s a good reason for it.

Our crews have been working through the evening hours to help minimize traffic disruption and keep projects moving while many people are off the roads. Night work allows important roadway improvements to take place while reducing the impact on drivers, businesses, and the surrounding community during busy daytime hours.

It takes a dedicated team to keep operations running safely and efficiently after dark, and we appreciate the hard work our crews continue putting in to help improve the infrastructure our communities rely on every day.

Sealcoating helps preserve asphalt by sealing the surface against moisture infiltration, oxidation, and chemical exposure. By limiting water intrusion and slowing binder degradation from UV exposure, sealcoating helps maintain surface integrity and delays the onset of cracking and raveling.

It improves overall pavement performance and extends the service life of the asphalt. It also improves surface uniformity, which can aid in visibility for striping and overall site function.

⚠️ TRAFFIC ALERT – E Ash Ave Road Work ⚠️

Beginning Tuesday, May 26, road resurfacing work will take place on E Ash Ave between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and US 51. The project is expected to continue through approximately June 5, weather permitting.

Most work will occur during nighttime hours to help minimize traffic disruption, but drivers should still expect intermittent closures, lane reductions, and flagging operations throughout the project area.

Please slow down, stay alert, and use caution when traveling near the work zone. Consider alternate routes when possible and help keep both crews and drivers safe while improvements are being made.

⚠️ ROAD WORK - E Ash Ave ⚠️

E Ash Ave will be repaved for approximately two weeks between Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and US 51 starting Tuesday, May 26, for road resurfacing. Weather permitting, the project is scheduled until approximately June 5, 2026.

The bulk of the work will be done at night to minimize disruption to this busy portion of E Ash Ave. There may be intermittent closures and one lane of traffic with flaggers during construction.

Please slow down and use extreme caution in this area, and use a detour route around the work zone. Thank you for your patience while we fix roads!

Rumble strip application is a targeted safety measure used to reduce run-off-road and cross-centerline incidents.

Consistency is critical to ensure effectiveness while meeting project specifications, maintaining ride quality and minimizing noise concerns where required. Coordination with striping, edge lines, and roadway geometry is also an important part of the process.
