There’s nothing quite like spending a day on the course with the Ideal team.

At our 13th Annual Company Golf Outing at Fieldstone Golf Club in Auburn Hills, employees from across the company gathered for a day of camaraderie, friendly competition, and remembrance as we honored the life and legacy of our dear teammate, Dan Garland.

The beautiful weather and strong turnout made for a memorable day, and we are grateful to everyone who participated in celebrating the connections that make our team so special. It was the perfect way to wrap up another busy and rewarding summer.

Everyone has a unique story about how they found their way into the construction industry. With so many different paths into the field, no two journeys are exactly alike.

Take it from Andrew Milkey, Project Manager at Ideal Contracting and one of the strongest advocates for the construction industry you’ll find. Growing up in a family of construction professionals, a career in the industry seemed like a natural fit. But his path to construction was anything but conventional.

While earning his college degree, Andrew also served as a firefighter, gaining a firsthand appreciation for leadership, teamwork, and the importance of serving his community. During that time, he also joined Ideal Contracting as a Build U intern and quickly demonstrated the drive and dedication that would define his career.

Today, Andrew is a trusted leader at Ideal and a respected professional throughout the industry. Beyond managing projects, he’s investing his time and energy into educating the next generation of professionals so that they, too, can carve their own unique pathway into construction.

As we wrap up our celebration of Ideal Contracting's 20th General Motors Supplier of the Year Award, we're proud to highlight Niles Industrial Coatings, LLC, a valued partner whose contributions have helped make this milestone possible.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this series has been hearing our project partners reflect on the relationships we've built together over the years. Niles has been a trusted collaborator on countless projects, and our partnership continues to grow stronger with each opportunity to work together.

While this award bears Ideal's name, it reflects the collective effort of the many trade partners, suppliers, and project teams who have supported General Motors alongside us for more than 25 years.

For nearly three decades, Ideal Contracting and General Motors have worked together to deliver projects that support manufacturing, innovation, and community investment throughout Southeast Michigan. What began with a single project in 1999 has grown into one of the most important relationships in our company's history.

Our team had a wonderful time celebrating our 20th General Motors Supplier of the Year Award last week at M1 Concourse, joined by many of the trade and project partners who help deliver our GM projects across Southeast Michigan. We were also honored to celebrate alongside the General Motors team members we are proud to work with every day.

This milestone reflects more than two decades of collaboration, trust, and shared success. Throughout the week, we'll be taking a closer look at Ideal Contracting's long-standing relationship with GM and highlighting some of the partners whose contributions have helped make 20 Supplier of the Year Awards possible.

The 2026 Build U Internship Program has officially come to a close, and what a summer it was!

Last week, we wrapped up another successful year with our largest intern cohort ever. Throughout the summer, Build U interns had the opportunity to visit active project sites, participate in hands-on learning experiences, and build relationships with industry professionals across our organization.

Programs like Build U are made possible by the dedicated team members who invest their time, knowledge, and energy into helping the next generation of construction professionals succeed. Thank you for making this experience so meaningful.
