Usually it's a rectangle. Maybe a few extra feet bigger than what they have now. But that's where experience makes a difference.
One of Mike's strengths is being able to visualize a space before it's built. He looks at your home, your yard, how you use the space, where people gather, traffic flow, elevation changes, drainage, and how everything ties together.
Sometimes that means adding curves, borders, steps, seat walls, or changing the layout entirely. Sometimes it's making the patio larger in one area and smaller in another. The goal isn't to make it bigger, it's to make it better.
