Why is my water heater making noise?” 🤔
If you’ve been hearing popping, rumbling, or hissing sounds—you’re definitely not alone. This is one of the most common issues we see in homes around Easton and the Lehigh Valley.
👉 The most common cause: sediment buildup inside the tank. Over time, minerals settle at the bottom and harden. When the water heats up, it creates that rumbling or popping sound.
⚠️ When to take it seriously:
• The noise is getting louder
• You see rusty water
• There’s water around the unit
• Your water heater is over 8–12 years old
We recently checked a system in Phillipsburg making loud rumbling noises—turns out the buildup was too severe to flush, and replacement was the best option. If you’re unsure what your water heater is trying to tell you, feel free to reach out.
