Providing rare native plants and consultation on establishing native gardens, wildflower meadows, rain gardens and more.

We specialize in growing plants native to the southern Appalachian mountains and beyond. We also have a special focus on plants growing in the rare and endangered shale barrens habitat found from Pennsylvania through Virginia and West Virginia. The provenance of all our plants is tracked when possible. Most of our offerings are native to Virginia and West Virginia. We also provide consultation services regarding plant selection, native plant garden establishment, wildflower meadow establishment and management, and more.

We have some wonderful news to share from the Wood Thrush Natives family!

Our very own Emily and Calvin welcomed a healthy baby boy (Bertie) into the world! Mom and baby are both doing well, and we couldn’t be happier for Emily and Calvin as they begin this sweet new chapter.

Due to extenuating circumstances, the nursery will be closed to walk-ins on Saturday September 26. Sorry for the inconvenience. We will open for regular hours on Sunday.

American hops (Humulus lupulus var. lupuloides) blooming for the first time in the nursery. Hoping to have some to offer in 2027

We have reopened to walk-in visitors every Wednesday and weekends from 1-5 until the end of October!

We are taking a summer break! The nursery will be closed through August 15 to walk-in visitors. Please make an appointment if you want to come by during this time. Thank you!

We had a great day at the nursery today with Megan from the South West Virginia Wildlife Center and the animal ambassadors. We will still be having our clearance sale tomorrow from 10 to 5. Come on out! Still plenty to get!
