🚽 “Flushable” doesn’t always mean plumbing-friendly!

Unlike toilet paper, wipes don’t break down quickly in water. They can become caught inside your pipes, collect other debris, and eventually cause stubborn clogs, backups, or costly sewer-line problems.

The safest rule is simple: only flush toilet paper. Even if the package says “flushable,” put used wipes in the trash.

🗑️ Trash it—don’t flush it!

Today is one of those days where we get to step back and truly appreciate how special someone’s accomplishment is. ❤️
Carissa Stinson is officially a Master Plumber!🔧👩‍🔧
We are beyond proud of her!
Passing the Master Plumbing Exam takes an incredible amount of knowledge, preparation, discipline, and determination. But what makes Carissa’s accomplishment even more meaningful is everything it represents. She walked into a trade that has historically been dominated by men, worked just as hard as anyone, earned the respect of those around her, and refused to let any obstacle define what she was capable of.
There are thousands of Master Plumbers in Texas, but women remain an incredibly small percentage of them. Texas industry reporting has put the number of women Master Plumbers at fewer than 100 statewide.
Fewer than 100.
And now Carissa is one of them.
That number isn’t just a statistic to us. It represents courage. It represents perseverance. It represents a woman who chose to chase something difficult and didn’t stop until she accomplished it.
Carissa, we hope you know just how proud we are of you. Not only because you passed an exam, but because of the woman, plumber, leader, and role model you have become along the way.
You earned this. You worked for this. And you deserve to be incredibly proud of yourself.
Congratulations, Master PlumbHer Carissa. ❤️🔧

Homeowner Plumbing FAQs

❓ Why is my water bill suddenly higher?
A hidden leak, running toilet, dripping faucet, or underground water line leak could be the cause. A sudden increase in your water bill is worth investigating.

❓ Can I use chemical drain cleaners?
It's best to avoid them. Chemical drain cleaners can damage your pipes over time and often don't solve the root cause of the clog.

❓ Why does my toilet keep running?
A worn flapper, faulty fill valve, or improperly adjusted float are common causes. A running toilet can waste hundreds of gallons of water.

❓ Why is my water pressure low?
Low water pressure can result from mineral buildup, leaks, partially closed valves, or issues with the municipal water supply.

❓ What's okay to put down the garbage disposal?
Small food scraps are fine, but avoid grease, fats, coffee grounds, eggshells, pasta, rice, fibrous vegetables, and bones.

❓ What should I do if a pipe bursts?
Turn off your home's main water supply immediately, then call a licensed plumber to minimize water damage.

❓ Why does my drain keep clogging?
Recurring clogs usually indicate a deeper blockage, buildup, or a problem in the drain line that should be professionally inspected.

❓ How often should I have my plumbing inspected?
An annual plumbing inspection helps catch small issues before they become expensive repairs and keeps your system operating efficiently.

❓ What shouldn't I flush down the toilet?
Only toilet paper and human waste. Even products labeled "flushable" wipes can cause serious clogs.

❓ Where is my home's main water shut-off valve?
Every homeowner should know its location before an emergency happens. Shutting off the water quickly can greatly reduce damage from a leak.

❓ Is a dripping faucet really a big deal?
Yes! Even a slow drip can waste a surprising amount of water over time and increase your utility bill.

❓ Why does my water heater run out of hot water so quickly?
Sediment buildup, a failing heating element, or an undersized water heater may be the cause.

👂 What's one sound no homeowner ever wants to hear?

💧 Running water... when every faucet is turned off.

If you hear water flowing but nothing is in use, it could mean:
🔹 A hidden leak
🔹 A running toilet
🔹 A broken pipe
🔹 Water escaping where it shouldn't

The sooner you investigate, the better your chances of preventing expensive water damage and high utility bills.

If your plumbing is making sounds that don't seem right, don't ignore them. Our team at Stinson Plumbing is here to help diagnose the problem before it becomes a bigger one.
