We were onsite with Revere Real Estate in Capistrano Beach this past week and you can actually hear the waves from these homes!

Three five-bedroom residences, set along a private drive, each with a pool and cabana overlooking the Pacific. With the Dana Point Harbor just minutes away, the location offers extraordinary coastal living.

Why do architects visit job sites? Aside from ensuring continuity, the design process never ends as they say, and we love capitalizing on any view opportunities through rooftops and trees. This was definitely one of those projects!

Lessons from Japan: Designing for Everyone

Most of the world doesn’t integrate accessibility into society as well as it should.

In Japan, the “luxury” was the graceful integration of accessibility throughout much of the city…setting a high bar for the rest of the world to achieve.

These Tenji Blocks are incorporated into flooring and hardscape in many public places in Japan, from sidewalks to train stations, museums, hotels, and more. As we continue to explore what luxury means in Japan, this one caught our eye for the attention to detail and graceful integration of accessibility for the sight impaired.

Designing for the needs of our clients is integral in our work with custom homes. Our homes are seamlessly tailored to the needs and lifestyles of each individual client.

One design principle appeared again and again throughout Japan: nature complimenting architecture.

Natural landscapes framed against dark architectural materials. Soft planting paired with crisp modern lines. Interior spaces flowing seamlessly into gardens.

Rather than competing with architecture, the greenery elevated it.

Part 1: Attention to Detail

In Japan, we found extraordinary attention to detail everywhere we looked. Hotel rooms made every square foot feel intentional. Construction sites, sidewalks, and even utility covers reflected a level of care that's easy to overlook but impossible to ignore.

One of our favorite discoveries was a high-rise that transformed exposed glass standoff hardware into a playful detail, adding an unexpected sense of whimsy to an otherwise structural element.

It's a reminder that exceptional architecture is about elevating every detail.
