🚨Not Every Mark on a Roof Is an Insurance Claim🚨
This photo is a great example of why a professional roof inspection matters before calling in an insurance claim.(NOT OUR PICTURE)
Yes, there is a small mark on the shingle—but this is not the type of damage we would recommend calling your insurance company about. A tiny isolated mark like this does not automatically mean you have functional hail damage or enough storm-related damage to justify filing a claim.
Insurance adjusters are looking for a consistent pattern of legitimate hail damage across the roof and other components of the property—not one or two questionable spots. Damage typically needs to show evidence of an actual impact that compromised the shingle, such as displaced granules with damage to the asphalt mat, and it must meet the carrier’s inspection criteria.
Calling in every small mark can lead to an unnecessary claim being opened with little or no chance of approval. Simply put, an experienced adjuster is not going to look at a tiny spot like this by itself and consider it justification for replacing a roof.
At First Source Property Solutions, our job isn’t to tell every homeowner they need to file a claim. If the damage isn’t there, we’re going to tell you. And if there is legitimate storm damage, we’ll document it properly and explain your options.
That’s the difference between trying to sell a roof and actually looking out for the homeowner.
Get it inspected first. File a claim when the evidence supports it.
