The Virgin River has shaped Southern Utah for generations, bringing both life and challenges to those who call this desert home. Since the first pioneers settled here, they've learned to respect the incredible power of Mother Nature.

At the new George Washington Boulevard Bridge, JP Excavating is helping prepare for whatever the river brings next. After experiencing floodwaters more than 10 times the river's normal flow during construction, the team got back to work building a bridge designed to withstand a 100-year flood. Massive armor-lined riprap will protect the bridge from erosion, helping keep this important crossing safe for years to come.

It's another example of the grit, planning, and craftsmanship that goes into building Southern Utah's future.
