Whether influenced by her international upbringing, a brief stint on Wall Street or her apprenticeship with famed sculptor Jackie Winsor, this beguiling nature enthusiast relishes in finding elegant solutions to tricky situations. "In order to realize my vision, if I need a certain table or chair, which has yet to exist on the market, I simply create and produce them. Fulfillment of the creative process is the veranda of freedom." This is what Pop and I look like after a 12-hour journey to a remote island in eastern Canada where the family home is accessible only by boat.
We are all smiles through the exhaustion to be back in a place that resonates deep in our bones and our family psyche.
My forebears found this special place in 1893 and created a lasting legacy for the generations to follow.
For me it’s a place to disconnect with the noise of the world while immersing in nature and strengthening family connections.
The lapping of the lake water against granite, the scent of pine needles baked in the sun, the calls of the loons, the wind in the trees, the sun setting over the water, the stacks of well worn books, the light slanting in off the lake…
These sights, smells and sounds are elemental for me. They nourish me for the work ahead and remind me why I do what I do.
