Storm damage can do more than bring down trees—it can bring down your electrical service, too. 🌳

After a tree damaged this home’s overhead electrical service, Eli from our electrical team was on site making the necessary repairs.

We replaced the damaged service wire and meter socket and added an emergency disconnect to bring the service up to current code requirements.

With storms moving through Frederick County from time to time, damage to overhead electrical services can leave a home without power even after utility power has been restored to the area.

A Home Full of Personality

We really LOVED this one.

This homeowner has created such a warm, cozy space, and almost everything you see has a story behind it. There are family heirlooms, antiques, pieces she’s collected over the years, and so many meaningful reminders of her years as a school teacher.

There is a lot to look at, and that’s exactly what makes it so great.

It’s not a room that was decorated all at once or designed to look like something out of a catalog. It’s been collected over time, and you can tell. Everywhere you look there’s something interesting, something meaningful, or something that makes you want to ask, “What’s the story behind that?”

Our contribution was the shiplap ceiling, and we couldn’t be happier with how it turned out!

There was already so much warmth and character in this home, and the shiplap just seemed to pull everything together. It gave the entire space a clean, finished backdrop without taking away from all of the things that make the room hers.

And we have to give our crew some credit on this one. There are a LOT of lines on that ceiling, and getting shiplap to look this clean across a large, open space takes patience and attention to detail. They did a beautiful job.

This is one of those projects that reminds us that remodeling doesn’t always mean making something completely different. Sometimes it’s just about adding the right thing to a home that’s already pretty special.

We were happy to be a small part of this one. ❤️

Do you see yourself living in your current home 10, 15, or even 20 years from now?

If the answer is yes,or even *probably*, your next renovation is a great opportunity to think beyond what your home needs today.

Take a walk through your house and ask yourself:

• Could we live primarily on one floor if we ever needed to?
• Is there a full bathroom on the main level?
• Would our shower or bathtub still be easy to use if our mobility changed?
• How many steps do we navigate just to enter the house?
• Are our doorways and hallways easy to navigate?
• Is there good lighting on stairs, in hallways, and around entrances?
• Could an office or den eventually become a first-floor bedroom?

Planning ahead doesn't mean making your home look like an “accessible” home.

It simply means making thoughtful choices today that can give you more options tomorrow.

If you're already considering a bathroom, kitchen, or other renovation, it's worth asking one more question:

Will this space work as well for me 15 years from now as it does today?

A beautiful home can also be a home designed to grow with you!

PROJECT SPOTLIGHT

Part 3 | The Primary Bathroom

The whole reason for this addition was to create a true primary suite, and that meant finally giving the homeowners a bathroom of their own.

Like many older homes, this 1854 farmhouse wasn't built with a primary bathroom or walk-in closet. The new addition gave them both while preserving the character of the original home.

The bathroom features a freestanding soaking tub, spacious walk-in shower, custom cherry vanity, built-in linen cabinet with a coffee station, and even a towel warmer for a little everyday luxury. Every finish, from the tile and countertops to the lighting and hardware, was carefully selected by the homeowners to complement the style of their historic farmhouse.

One of the things we enjoy most about renovating older homes is finding the balance between modern comfort and historic character. The goal isn't to make the new space stand out, it's to make it feel like it has always belonged.

This was such a special project to be part of, and we're grateful the homeowners trusted us to help bring their vision to life.
