Here’s me “working” whilst my wonderful and gifted photographer captures the essence of this family home from a couple of years back.
The plan is based around a simple courtyard. Vistas and views are key strategically placed for maximum effect.
Another key concept was to have a bold entrance bringing you into a big but welcoming space. From there you venture further into the house and the spaces become increasingly more intimate.
This first image sums up the idea with a view right through the house and views of the mountain ranges that cradle Stellenbosch in the distance.

du Plessis house Vermont - lounge.
From a few years back, I love how many of the spaces turned out in this house. My client was open to pushing the envelope. Particular the lounge.
The lounge opens up to a private milkwood courtyard creating an incredibly tranquil and relaxing space that oozes back into the lounge.
From the courtyard you can look through the lounge and out to sea. The lounge is compact and cozy but feels large and open with the amount of light that streams in.
