The former Sims Metal building at Pinkenba required a complete transformation, all while the facility remained fully operational.​

J&D carefully staged the works around day-to-day operations, with electrical shutdowns scheduled outside business hours to minimise disruption. As is often the case with projects of this nature, a number of unforeseen site conditions and legacy building challenges were uncovered throughout the refurbishment. Through proactive planning, close coordination and effective problem-solving, these were successfully managed without impacting the overall programme.​

The result is a contemporary office fitout that breathes new life into the existing structure, delivering a modern and functional workspace while retaining the character of the original building. A great outcome achieved through strong collaboration between the client, architect and project team.​

Old buildings don't always show you everything upfront. At Ipswich Central State School, J&D Contracting were engaged to fully refurbish and reconfigure the administration building.​​

Once works began, concealed structural elements and service constraints that couldn't be seen from the outside came to light. A less experienced team would have lost time. ​
​
J&D worked through it, adjusting design on site, keeping trades coordinated, and delivering a fully compliant, modern facility without compromising the programme.​​
