We advance our clients and community through positively enhancing the built, natural and social environments. ENGAGE. EVOLVE. ENRICH.

The creative and intelligent evolution of both the design process and the craft of architecture guides our work. The depth of our engagement with clients, users and stakeholders generates sophisticated responses to the unique constellation of social, cultural and environmental concerns of each project. Francl Architecture thrives on the challenge to design and realize a genuinely modern, livable, and sustainable built environment. Our insight and expertise, gained over two decades of producing professionally recognized projects, ensures efficient and elegant buildings attuned to their own unique context and conditions. While knowledgeable about and experienced with sustainable metrics such as Living Building Challenge, LEED, and ASHRAE, we align ourselves first and foremost with the core principles behind these systems. We continually reappraise our practices to develop new strategies that promote the health and well-being of occupants and the responsible management of resources.

The first concrete slab has been poured at 95 Nelson Street!

If you need a refresher, 95 Nelson will consist of 283 homes, a new Firehall, and a 44-space childcare centre, all under one roof in Northeast False Creek. The new fire hall will be built to Passive House standards, and the childcare centre will bring much-needed affordable childcare to a growing neighbourhood. The goal is to create a connected urban environment for seniors, young families, and neighbours from all walks of life.

For Francl, this project is a milestone in how we think about high-rise living: housing designed around community, sustainability, and the people who will call it home. We’re proud to be part of the team!

Behind every project is a team of people who care about getting it right.

Last Thursday we had the chance to celebrate this at our annual Client Appreciation Event. Thank you to our clients and partners for joining us on this fine evening.

We look forward to the continued camaraderie and conversations that allow us to shape communities together!

Join us at Facades+ Vancouver on October 27 for “Highly Engineered High Rises: Fifteen Fifteen Alberni”!

A series of stacked, physics-defying glass-enclosed cantilevers compose the distinctive facade of Fifteen Fifteen Alberni. Our Principal, Vincent Knudsen, along with Tom Hickman from Axiom Builders and Brett Pattrick from Stantec share the technical story behind bringing this unique facade to life.

Every SkyTrain station tells a different neighbourhood’s story.

Francl Architecture Principals Judy Liu and Jose Gonzalez are heading to Toronto this September for the Mpact Transit + Community Conference.
They’ll be speaking on the Surrey Langley SkyTrain project: a 16km extension of the Expo Line bringing 8 new stations and 3 transit exchanges to Surrey and Langley, BC.
Their session digs into how station design can balance system-wide consistency with neighbourhood character, and how transit-oriented development around each stop can shape safer, more recognizable communities.

Come hear about how architecture and landscape design can change the way we engage with infrastructure in our cities.

One of our greatest sources of pride at Francl is our team’s dedication to accessible design. When members of our firm chose to invest their time and careers in achieving the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility accreditation, we were proud to support them, embracing that commitment into the way we practice every day.

A sneak peek of what’s to come: our next post will highlight the Chinese Canadian Museum, which has recently achieved RHF Accessibility Certification.
