🚧 Our new build job progressing nicely! 🚧

Here you can see our team carefully installing sand around a water pipe, providing protection before the trench is backfilled. 🔵

We’ve also installed blue marker tape for clear demarcation and protection, helping identify the service for future works.

The trench is now awaiting the installation of an electrical cable, which will feed the new-build house. ⚡🏡

🚧 Progress update on the new build!

Following on from last week’s road opening, we’re back on site continuing the excavation to run the electric and water services through to the newly built house.

The work is progressing nicely, with the end now in sight. Here’s a quick look at the dig continuing through the road and footpath. 🚜💪

⚠️ You can’t always see what’s beneath your feet.

This is exactly why the right machinery, equipment and training are so important when carrying out groundwork.

During a recent excavation, our CAT 4 cable avoidance equipment picked up electrical services running beneath the ground — something that could easily have been missed without the correct scanning equipment.

Having the right equipment is only part of the job. Making sure the people using it have the correct, up-to-date tickets, training and knowledge is just as important. Regular training and keeping qualifications current helps ensure equipment is used correctly and that the risks associated with excavation and underground services are properly understood.

Taking the time to scan before and during excavation helps us identify hidden services and work safely around them. It’s about using the right equipment, having properly trained operators and following safe working practices — not taking chances.

Good groundwork starts with good preparation. 👷‍♂️

The machinery we use isn’t just there to make the job easier — it’s there to help keep our team, our customers and the public safe.
