We have been at the forefront of advancing steel pile installation techniques since our inception including the introduction of the process of pre-augering to relieve ground conditions - now a widespread practice! 🚧 Site Spotlight: Bryn Station

This week we’re putting the spotlight on our site at Bryn in Ashton-in-Makerfield, where we’re working on another Access for All Scheme with our Giken.

This project presents a number of challenges with the works taking place within a built-up residential area and in close proximity to live railway lines. Working within such a constrained environment requires careful planning, precision and the right equipment to ensure the piling works can be carried out safely and efficiently while minimising disruption to the surrounding area.

We have now completed the piling for the lift shaft on Platform 2 and have started installing the next section of piles on Platform 1.

We’re using our Giken silent piling system in Supercrush mode which is particularly well suited to projects with hard ground and where controlling noise and vibration is important. Its low-noise, low-vibration method and it's ability to cut through rock allows us to undertake sheet piling works in sensitive environments, making it an ideal solution for working alongside residential properties and an operational railway.

On this project we’re installing 12m long PU32-0.5 steel sheet piles supplied by our friends at ArcelorMittal. The piles are being handled on site using mobile cranes supplied by Marsden Crane Services. Logistics are being provided by Le Dale Transport.
