Today marks the end of an incredible chapter as Ray officially retires after 37 years with us.

Over nearly four decades, Ray has been far more than a skilled joiner. He has helped shape the workshop, the team, and the generations of craftsmen who have come through our doors. His knowledge, patience, and willingness to share his experience have left a lasting mark on the business in ways that will continue long into the future.

Many of the team working in the workshop today have learned from Ray over the years, benefiting from the standards, skills, and work ethic he brought to every project. His legacy can be seen not only in the countless pieces of joinery he has produced, but also in the people he has helped develop along the way.

A fantastic joiner, a valued colleague, and a real asset to the team, Ray will be greatly missed around the workshop.

While today marks his retirement, we have a feeling this won’t be a final goodbye, and we hope he’ll still pop in from time to time.

From everyone at Sturrocks, thank you for 37 years of dedication, craftsmanship, and friendship.

We wish Ray a long, happy, and well-deserved retirement!

The last few windows for this large hotel project in Edinburgh are now making their way through the workshop.

Manufactured in Sapele, this has been a significant package of work, with careful attention given to maintaining consistency in both detailing and finish across the full order.

Finished externally in RAL 6009 Fir Green and internally in Farrow & Ball Farrow’s White, supplied by Scott Paints Industrial.

We’ve shared parts of this project as it progressed through production, and we’re looking forward to seeing the final result once everything is installed on site!

Join our workshop team!

We’re currently looking to bring experienced Bench Joiners into our workshop team in Angus.

At Sturrocks, our work centres around high-quality, often heritage-led projects – from traditional sash and case windows to complex curved and bespoke joinery. Everything we produce is made in-house, with a strong focus on detail, accuracy, and long-term performance.

We’re looking for individuals who take real pride in their work – craftsmen who understand the importance of getting the details right and are confident working from drawings through to final assembly.

You’ll be working as part of an experienced team, in a busy but well-structured workshop environment, with a consistent pipeline of projects.
